In rural Hayti, Missouri, Elizabeth, a Sunday School teacher, receives a call from a distraught man. He’s reluctant to share his name or the cause of his pain, hinting at a troubled past and overwhelming guilt. Concerned, she learns he’s suicidal and has taken dangerous pills. Isolated and without support, Elizabeth must use her compassion to keep him on the line. As they talk, she discovers he has bipolar disorder and the stigma that prevents him from seeking help. She becomes his lifeline, offering understanding as he confronts his demons. She deduces his name is Jeremy and finds enough information to locate him. Through their connection, Elizabeth must help Jeremy survive and find a reason to live if she can reach him in time.
